At the trail head, oblivious to the fields of poison ivy and buffalo that await us...

We almost walked right into this guy when we scared him out of his hiding spot by the river bank.

So he decided to lead us down the trail, but he stopped to eat a little more often than we would have liked...

Where did the trail go? We never did find out -- we hiked out of the canyon after searching for about an hour...

And when we got out, we found ourselves in a herd of buffalo with no good way around.

Luckily a tourist with a big truck saved the day.
